Our Mission

The Anderson Township Historical Society and Urban Farm is a non-profit organization serving the residents of Anderson Township, Mt Washington and Newtown, Ohio. It is dedicated to preserving the history of our area, encouraging our youth to embrace history, bringing the past to life and providing our community with experiences and places to gather, learn and grow.

About Anderson Township Historical Society

Anderson Township is very fortunate to have such a vibrant historical society. ATHS has a healthy treasury, a dedicated and cooperative Board of Directors, a fabulous centerpiece for our organization (our Log House), great potential with our 10-plus acres of land and buildings and an active membership who regularly attend our quality programs.

Now that we have upgraded, improved and stabilized our buildings on the lower property on Clough Pike we have been turning our attention to the upper property off Bartels Road. You really have to see the changes being made “up on the hill.’ The Urban Farm is vibrant, breatiful and active.

This group has successfully obtained zoning approval and made many improvements to the property These include removing over grown land, re-establishment of the water supply system, and renovating the 1800’s barn on the property.

Two large multi-plot garden areas have been established and enclosed with “deer fence”. Also, there are chickens managed by volunteers and members.

We have been moving various tools and other items around in preparation to create a display to demonstrate how a log cabin (or a log house) was built and functioned.
